The American Cancer Society's Annual Lobby Day will be held on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at the State Capitol in the Old Judiciary Room (you will not be required to stay for the entire time).

One of our targets is to ask our legislators to restore funding for the CT Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection program which provides free mammograms and PAP tests to women who have no health insurance.  Funding was decreased by 10% in the last session and an additional 5% cut has been proposed.  Due to these cuts, 1,500 otherwise eligible women will not have access to these screenings.

If you, your place of employment or any friends/family members are interested in participating, registration is required.  Please contact Kathleen Turner at 860.440.6446 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .  Training for this event will take place on Thursday, March 22, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Society’s Norwalk Office and Monday, March 26, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Society’s Rocky Hill Office.  You may attend in person or via conference call.

Through advocacy we can change public health policy in an effort to reduce and eliminate cancer incidence and mortality rates due to cancer.  Please come make your voice heard!

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of New London County

Harkness Memorial State Park

Contact Sandy or Diane to Join our Team!

The American Cancer Society Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a noncompetitive walk that unites New London County honoring and celebrating breast cancer survivors, to educate women about prevention and early detection, and to raise money to help people stay well, get well, find cures, and fight back against this disease.
The donations from Making Strides Against Breast Cancer help fuel the Society's free programs and services such as transportation to and from treatment, support for patients with breast cancer, free wigs and prostheses for cancer patients. In 2011, there were 31 breast cancer research grants in New England totaling nearly $13 million dollars in funding. But there is more to do. Join Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and help create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.

Members of The Breast Health Task Force of Southeastern and “In the Pink” survivors
